"I think the thing that saved me was the house was built 102 years ago," Madge Pursley, 85, of rural Boonville, Ind., said. "You see, it was framed out of oak and over the years it's aged and hardened as I have. You could hardly drive a nail into it even after 100 years." Pursey's home was knocked about 16 feet off its foundation and she survived the tornado by staying in her bed.
